Today my munchkins and I took a walk down to a busy corner near our house. We packed the wagon full of chairs, an umbrella, and kids games aimed at setting up a “pop-up story park” to create an opportunity to hear stories of the street from our neighbors for the street speaks National Street Service task.
Everyone was so friendly!
It was interesting to hear different perspectives. I also took the time to interview my children. I think it’s so important to hear and see things through their eyes.
By far my favorite discovery was when a neighbor told me of a back pathway that would allow me to connect to my neighborhood park without having to travel down the busy arterial roadway.
I had no idea there was a pedestrian path!
This exercise yet again left me feeling thankful for an opportunity to connect with my neighbors and my immediate environment. I wish there were more opportunities to do so!
